The Kind of Shots We Take

A reflection on the kind of shots we take, the trenches they build, and the sacrificial boldness Jesus exemplified.

The Kind of Shots We Take

When you take shots, no matter how cheap, people will dig trenches. We know what trenches are for.

You can also “take shots”, no matter how expensive, that will draw people out of their trenches.

We need to decide on the type of shots we are taking. One kind is hot and selfish. Only one kind is sacrificial and bold. The humble can take the winning kind of shots.

These words are directed at our times. Right now.

If you look at the death of Jesus you see the prim example of this type of scrificial and bold life.

Today’s existential threats have already been played over and over through human history. It is not new. It is common. It would be wise not to consider ourselves above those who came before us.

Today is a great day to humble your heart and seek the kind of shot taking Jesus exemplified. He did not let people run over him, he stepped out and took the shots we deserved.

The wisdom of God is foolishness to man.

P.S. Christians are not Jesus. Jesus is Jesus. Christians should humble themselves before him. I for one can not ask others to humble themselves before me. I can only point to him and look to him and be moved by him.
